The official 2026 Qin PLUS DM-i manual lists BYD472QC with a displacement of 1.498 litres, rated output of 74 kW at 6,000 rpm and maximum net output of 70 kW at 6,000 rpm. Identify the vehicle before comparing engines

Provide the vehicle VIN, model year, market version and a clear photograph of the engine identification. Ask the seller to supply the corresponding information for the offered unit. Matching the broad vehicle name, displacement or a photograph of the engine cover is not enough.

A replacement assessment should compare the complete engine code, part numbers, mounting points, connectors, accessories and control-system requirements. A matching code is an important starting point, but it does not by itself establish that every complete assembly is interchangeable.

Define what the quotation includes

An engine quotation should have an itemised list. Confirm whether it includes manifolds, fuel-system components, sensors, wiring and control modules. A combustion-engine price should not be interpreted as including the hybrid transmission, drive motor, battery or other hybrid components unless they are explicitly listed.

Ask for photographs tied to the actual unit, its identification, condition records and available inspection evidence. If the engine cannot be demonstrated in a running donor vehicle, ask which tests were performed and which operating conditions remain unverified.

Common buying questions

Is BYD472QC an electric motor? No. The cited BYD manual lists engine and electric-motor specifications separately.

Can it replace BYD472ZQB? Do not assume that. They are different engine codes; compatibility requires a vehicle-specific parts and control-system assessment.

Does low vehicle mileage prove the engine is healthy? It is supporting information, not a substitute for condition and diagnostic records.

Is a warning light proof that the combustion engine needs replacement? A hybrid vehicle needs a system-level diagnosis before parts are ordered. A warning alone does not identify the failed assembly.

What should a buyer in Ghana send for a sourcing assessment? The VIN, engine-code photograph, diagnosis or fault report, required assembly scope and destination. Availability, inspection scope and delivered price should then be confirmed for the specific offered unit.

Where to find the identification

For the cited 2026 Qin PLUS DM-i, the manual shows an engine label above the engine and identification stamped on the cylinder block. The vehicle plate is below the right-hand B-pillar. Photograph both the readable identification and a wider view locating it on the offered unit. Keep the full VIN and serial number in the transaction record rather than publishing them in the article.

Normal behaviour versus a fault

The Qin PLUS manual explains that prolonged EV use can trigger an engine-maintenance start. That event alone is not proof of a defective engine. Conversely, its oil-pressure warning instructions require stopping safely and shutting the engine down; do not continue driving merely to test whether the warning clears. Manual, pages 58 and 60

Read the inspection evidence, not just “tested”

Ask for the unit identification, test date, engine temperature, test method and actual readings. A cold-start video records that event; it does not establish long-term oil consumption or performance under all loads. A borescope image shows only the surfaces it actually captures, so request labelled images rather than an unexplained photograph.
