BYD472ZQB appears in BYD DM-i engine documentation. Buyers should distinguish the combustion engine from the complete hybrid system, and should confirm the exact vehicle variant before using an engine specification to compare cars or order parts.

What the official documentation establishes

The cited Han L DM-i manual lists BYD472ZQB as a four-stroke spark-ignition engine with a displacement of 1.498 litres. It gives rated output as 115 kW at 5,500 rpm and maximum net output as 110 kW at 5,500 rpm. The manual lists electric-motor data separately. A manual revision date is not necessarily the model year. Retail trim names, production-date ranges and assembly interchangeability still need vehicle-specific verification. Do not apply these rows to a battery-electric Han or to every Han model year.

Why the full code matters

Do not shorten the description to “BYD 1.5 engine.” Different codes and vehicle configurations can require different parts and controls. BYD472QC and BYD472ZQB should be treated as separate identification and purchasing enquiries, not automatic substitutes.

Before paying, compare the original vehicle’s VIN and engine identification with the offered unit. Obtain part-number and connector information, the donor vehicle specification where available, and an exact list of included accessories. Have the intended replacement checked against the relevant vehicle parts documentation.

Inspection and quotation checklist

Common buying questions

Why do rated power and maximum net power differ in listings? They are separately labelled figures in the manufacturer’s documentation. A listing should identify which figure it uses; neither should be presented as the car’s combined hybrid output.

Does the same vehicle name guarantee the same engine? No. Check the year, market, variant, VIN and full engine code.

Does a complete-engine quotation include the hybrid system? Only if the accompanying parts list explicitly includes those components. Ask the seller to define the assembly scope.

Should a hybrid-system fault lead straight to an engine purchase? No. Obtain a diagnosis identifying the affected assembly before ordering a replacement.

What information starts a useful sourcing enquiry? Send the VIN, engine identification, diagnostic findings, requested parts scope and delivery destination. Confirm fitment, condition, availability and quotation terms against the actual offered unit before purchase.

Where to find the identification

For the cited Han L DM-i, page 414 locates the stamped engine identification on the intake-side cylinder-block mating-face area and the label at the upper right of the engine. Request a close-up of the identification plus a wider photograph showing its location. An electric-motor number is not the combustion-engine code.

A warning is a reason to diagnose, not a parts order

The Han L manual directs the owner to arrange inspection for a persistent power-system warning. Its oil-pressure warning calls for a safe stop and engine shutdown. Neither instruction identifies a replacement engine as the automatic remedy. Manual, pages 63–64

Read the inspection evidence, not just “tested”

Ask for the unit identification, test date, engine temperature, test method and actual readings. A cold-start video records that event; it does not establish long-term oil consumption or performance under all loads. A borescope image shows only the surfaces it actually captures, so request labelled images rather than an unexplained photograph.
